Botox, also known as neurotoxin, is the most popular anti-aging treatment and for all the right reasons. Not to mention the simplest reason, that TI WORKS! While you maybe hearing that a lot of celebrities are use botox and it may come across as an expensive treatment, the truth is, botox is affordable and suitable for anyone. Are looking to get rid of wrinkles and attain youthful skin?
Botox is a very effective remedy against natural-aging lines and wrinkles that developed due to repetitive facial movements. Let me answer a few questions related to botox…
How exactly does Botox work?
As we age, our facial skin starts to show lines due to the frequent contraction of our facial muscles. The years of contraction from making facial expressions, accompanied by lifestyle factors and environmental conditions, give birth to all the fine lines and wrinkles that each of us have on our face. Scientifically, when our facial muscles move, our brain sends a message through the nerves to the muscles, asking them to contract. Neurotoxins, interrupt this process, blocks the messages from nerves and the brain is not able to send that message to muscles to cause the contraction. Thus, the muscles remains in position, leaving the skin un-creased and appearance of wrinkles is softened. If used regularly under skilled supervision and with mindful administration, botox can delay and prevent the signs of aging.
Will my face be frozen after Botox?
You will be able to move your face muscles immediately after treatment. You can carry on with normal facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, scowling, raised eyebrows, etc. The “frozen” effect that you might have heard about, after Botox administration, is majorly due to the excessive (more than necessary) toxin released in the treated area. Therefore, it is important to have the treatment from a qualified and experienced professional who would know do dose correctly and to make sure to follow post- care instructions from said professional.
What are the areas that Botox effectively works on?
Botox is used mainly for anti-aging purposes in face. It helps to remove forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, and brow lines (11 lines). However, it is also can be used lift eyebrows, lift the neck to create a sharper jawline, lift the corners of the mouth, and tighten the skin on the chin, eliminating the orange peel appearance. We also use it in the master muscles to help people who clench their teeth, which can cause migraines or for those who simply want a slimmer jawline.
What major precautions are to be taken after the treatment?
Immediately after leaving the clinic, you can carry on with your normal routine. For the first 4 hours, do not indulge into any strenuous work such as going to the gym, running, lifting heavy things, or anything involving extreme heat, such as saunas or hot tubs. You also want to avoid massages or rubbing anything on your face because that may cause your botox to move and migrate to a different area.
There are no major side-effects, however, you may experience little bruising and mild discomfort at the site of injection, which is temporary and will fade away on their own. To diminish the chances of bruising you will want to refrain from alcohol, NSAIDS (ibuprofen or naproxen), fish oils, or any other blood thinners, if possible.
