What is Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12, also known as cyanocobalamin, is an essential vitamin that your body needs but cannot produce. Vitamin B12 can be administered orally, intravenously as well as intramuscularly. Studies show that B12 injections can be absorbed much faster and more effectively through the bloodstream vs. orally.  Since our body cannot produce it, it is obtained by eating animal products. Vegetarians and Vegans who may not consume animal products are at higher risk of developing a deficiency.

Benefits of Vitamin B12 injections:

  • Increases Energy Levels and Concentration
  • Improves Metabolism and Helps With Weight Loss
  • Boosts the Immune System
  • Helps Improve Sleep Patterns
  • Increase cellular production

How does Vitamin B12 improve your mood + give you energy?

The effect of vitamin B12 on mood plays a vital role in synthesizing and metabolizing serotonin, a chemical responsible for regulating mood. Therefore, vitamin B12 deficiency may lead to decreased serotonin. Did you know that the most common early signs of a deficiency is fatigue or lack of energy?

Supports healthy hair, skin and nails

Given vitamin B12’s role in cell production, adequate levels of this vitamin are needed to promote healthy hair, skin and nails. In fact, low vitamin B12 levels can cause various dermatologic symptoms, including hyperpigmentation, nail discoloration, hair changes

How often can I receive B12 injections?

Here at skinBe we offer “booster shots” and recommend that you would come in at minimum once a week to receive a booster, but for optimal results come and see us twice a week, or double up on boosters while you’re in to see us.

What’s in a B12 booster shot?

There are three types of B12 shots. Most B12 shots are synthetic (cyanocobalamin). Since it’s synthetic the body doesn’t fully absorb it, nor does it give the same effect.  At skinBe, we use hydroxocobalamin – one of the natural forms with no fillers allowing it maximum absorption for optimal results. We are proud to offer hydroxocobalamin opposed to cyanocbalamin like most places, since they are able to purchase it for less and sell it for less, but with that comes less effectiveness.
