The Anti-Aging Holy Grail – Vitamin C

November 12, 2021

Let’s talk about the basics of Vitamin C and what exactly it’s purpose is. When you hear about Vitamin C, I’m sure most people immediately think of an immunity boost for when you are coming down with a cold. When taken orally or given IV/IM, it’s involved in many body functions, including formation of collagen, absorption of iron, the proper functioning of the immune system, wound healing, and the maintenance of cartilage, bones, and teeth. So it absolutely helps with your immunity and all things growth, development and repair of all body tissues. Vitamin C is in almost all our cocktail drips and can be given through IM injections when you are needing a little extra immunity boost.

But today we are talking about the Professional-C products offered here at skinBe that you apply to your skin. We offer two different Vitamin C products; Obagi Professional-C Serum 15% and Obagi Professional-C Microdermabrasion and Polish Mask 30%. The difference between the two, besides the obvious, one is a mask is:

Obagi Professional-C Serum 15% – A concentrated anti-aging serum enriched with Vitamin C that is suitable for all skin types that lightens, tightens and brightens. Obagi Professional-C Serum 15% infuses your skin with L-ascorbic acid, the only form of Vitamin C suitable for topical application. It is designed to penetrate deep into your skin, this Vitamin C serum provides effective antioxidant protection from UV damage as it brightens away hyperpigmentation and encourages the growth of collagen and elastin fibers.

Obagi Professional-C Microdermabrasion and Polish Mask – A brightening face mask that smooths and illuminates dull skin. It contains 30% Vitamin C – the highest on the market and tiny crystals that help exfoliate from everyday toxins. Benefits include: helps smooth and brighten skin with a powerful level of antioxidant Vitamin C, helps to refine rough texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, transforms skin from dull to smooth and radiant, helps minimize dryness and maximize glow, enriched with conditioning botanical oils to help restore supple skin. The formula is paraben, sulfate and phthalate-free.

These products are one of the only two forms of pure L-ascorbic acid on the market, so the Vitamin C Serum that you are using that is over the counter, is full of additives and fillers, making it so you don’t get the full effect and benefits. Other forms of Vitamin C are unstable and can be difficult to deliver into the correct layer of the skin, the dermis layer. That’s why it’s super important to not only use medical grade skincare, but using the Obagi brand to ensure you are getting the purest form to maximize your results.

The Vitamin C products we offer here at skinBe, are client and staff favorites as they speak for themselves. It is part of the ABC skincare basics which we have all heard about.

A – Vitamin A, also known as Retinol or Tretinoin, to help with cellular turnover bringing that baby fresh skin to the surface.

B – Broad Spectrum, known as your SPF, to help prevent the UVA and UVB rays from causing sun damage.

C – Vitamin C, which helps with lightning, brightening and tightening the skin.

You will immediately feel your skin become tighter but will notice the results over time. Vitamin C is amazing to help with the appearance of aging skin caused by environmental toxins and stressors. These products will help the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, dull skin complexion, the look of crepiness, crow’s feet, and puffiness around the eyes, and protect the skin from further damage and it is perfectly paired with SPF. You want to make sure that you are using a Vitamin C Serum daily, twice a day, in the morning and at night to target all the lightening, brightening, and tightening concerns. As for the Professional-C Mask, you can use it 2-3x weekly after you cleanse your face.
